Starcraft Lingo
In StarCraft there are many abbreviations. (The following are for FMP maps)
1. Choke – Entrance of your base.
2. Expo – A secondary base from where your main or starting base is or was.
3. Main – Your building right next to the minerals (Nexus, Command Center, Hatchery).
4. Obs – A player watching the 1v1 or 2v2 going on while in the game and picked Terran and lifted the Command Center and put it in the corner along with the SCV’s.
5. T up – Pick Terran in the game lobby.
6. Chaos Launcher/Adv Loader – A prorgram that tells you your APM (Actions per Minute) and also has a timer, both being displayed in game.
7. FMP – Fastest Map Possible.
8. Macro – The amount of buildings such as Gateways, Barracks, or Hatcheries you have.
9. Micro – Controlling your units in the best way possible to win the battle. Example – Having Zealots or Zerglings surround Marines.
10. Teching up – Making buildings that allow you to make different units. Example – A Hydralisk Den allows you to make Hydralisks.
11. Turtling – Making massive Defense at your choke entrance and not coming out of your base while not letting anyone in.
12. Smurfing - When someone makes a new account name without telling anyone so that no one knows who they are.
13. Spoofing - When a hacker uses a program that allows them to act as another person by making their name be the other person they are spoofing’s name. For example my account name is BlackMamba(Cc) and if another player wants to spoof my name they type a code using their hack in the channel lobby to then my their name look like my name in the game lobby and in the game so it looks like I’m playing, but I’m really not.
14. Gosu/Uber - A well experienced player with a lot of skill.
15. Getting Cheesed or Cheesing - When a player builds in your base very early in the game or harrasses you constantly in an annoying way that is enough to get you mad.
16. BM - Bad Manners.
17. Dodging - Not playing another player in a 1v1 or 2v2 match because you are scared they are going to win.
18. IH (In House) – A private game made for the players only in the channel or friends.
There are also many abrieviations in StarCraft such as Hydra for Hydralisk or Fbat for Firebat. Most of the abrieviations are common sense and you will learn them as you play more.
